There’s a certain magic in bringing together thoughtfully designed garments, natural light, and a model who truly embodies what Marree is all about. Today, I’m inviting you behind the scenes of our latest photo shoot, where the Sunrise Jacket and Nico Pant come to life—pieces created for women who crave sustainability, comfort, and a sense of ease in their everyday style.

Setting the Mood: Inspiration Rooted in Feeling
For me, inspiration always begins with evoking the feeling of the season. I wanted a sense of natural confidence—along with calm, ease, authenticity, and groundedness—to shine through in every photo and video. Wearing natural, organic fabrics like those in the Sunrise Jacket and Nico Pant creates a unique connection to the earth, giving you that effortless confidence that comes from knowing your clothes are as kind to your skin as they are to the planet. So natural confidence was the feeling we were going for.
The Spark: Inspiration from Real Women
Every Marree collection is inspired by the women who wear it. As I planned this shoot, I found myself thinking of Kati, a longtime customer whose natural style and warmth perfectly capture our brand’s spirit. In a moment that felt almost serendipitous, Kati walked into my booth just twenty minutes after I’d been wondering how to reach out to her. When I asked if she’d model for Marree, she said yes with the same easy grace she brings to everything she does. It was a reminder that the best stories are often the most authentic.

Pulling It All Together: Mood Boards, Styling, and Shot List
With inspiration in place, I curated a mood board that reflected the soft light and relaxed confidence I wanted to capture—sun-dappled cafes, gentle textures, and layers of natural color. The Sunrise Jacket took center stage, styled with the Nico Pant, our Lucia silk top, and a collection of silk scarves. Each accessory was chosen to enhance the organic beauty of the garments, not overshadow them.
I planned a mix of candid and styled shots, along with short videos to showcase the movement and drape of each piece. I wanted every frame to evoke that feeling you get when you slip into something that just feels right—comfortable, effortless, and unmistakably you.
The Perfect Setting: Sana’a Cafe & Marin Civic Center
Location is everything when you want to capture authentic beauty. I chose the sunlit Sana’a Cafe in San Rafael and the serene, architectural grounds of the Marin Civic Center. Both spaces offered natural light and a sense of ease—just the right backdrop for our collection of sustainable essentials.

On the day of the shoot, the morning light at Sana’a Cafe was soft and inviting. Kati looked radiant in the light grey Sunrise Jacket, paired with the Lucia silk top, a pair of white jeans and her look finished with a silk scarf. She moved through the cafe with an effortless calm that made every shot feel genuine. We had fun!
Later, as the sun dipped lower at the Civic Center, the golden hour light brought out the richness of the organic fabrics, highlighting their texture and drape.

The best part of the shoot was seeing Kati—someone who lives in Marree clothes—bring her own sense of self to every look. Whether she was laughing in the cafe or pausing in the Civic Center gardens, her sense of humor, authenticity, and groundedness were the real stars. The lighting, the natural settings, and the organic fabrics all worked together to create a feeling of ease and joy in every image.
