Behind the Scenes of Our Latest Photo Shoot: Style, Movement & Inspiration

Co-creating with Creative Women

We are endlessly inspired by the strong, creative women who fill their days with art, family, work, and care — that’s right, you. This season, our photo shoot came to life in one of the most inspiring spaces we’ve ever set foot in: Manna Gallery, discovered through our friend and the gallery’s owner, Gina Gaiser.

When we arrived, the gallery was filled with the stunning work of veteran painter Wayne Armstrong, a local Bay Area artist whose bold use of texture and tone matched the mood of our new collection.

Our creative direction this season celebrates "soft power" — that quiet confidence of knowing you have everything you need at your fingertips. The pieces reflect that mindset with elegant silhouettes, generous pockets, natural fabrics that move with you and keep up with you throughout your whole day. We also drew inspiration from vintage naval wide-leg pants, reinterpreting their flowy, structured shape for women on the move, think Rosie the Riveter.

Our model was someone truly special — a Marree customer named Serina whom we met last summer at an art and wine show. We met at a cafe to discuss the clothing and mood of the shoot. Though she’d never modeled before, her grace and natural poise blew us away. It turns out she’s both a ballet student and a film photographer, and that expressive duality comes through in every frame. She understood angles, lighting and how to create beautiful shapes with her body and the clothes. She truly embodies our brand’s spirit.

Fast forward to January 2026, we created a playlist to set the mood, adjusted the lighting at Manna Gallery for maximum excitement and went to work. Shooting in the gallery, surrounded by art and texture, we found ourselves playing, experimenting, and co-creating together.

At a few points during the shoot, Serina couldn’t help but start dancing in the gallery — the light, the space, and that flowing pink dress just seemed to move with her. Watching her twirl, Jenny laughed and realized she might’ve designed a ballet dress without even trying. Serina was loving the moment so much she exclaimed, “I think I’m finding a new me!”

Light, movement, and joy all come together in this behind‑the‑scenes moment — a celebration of ease, confidence, and playful femininity.

Side note, Gina has a show called "Built Different" showing at Manna Gallery until May 9th. Check it out if you're in the Oakland area.
