Ethical Fashion: Discover the Constellation Jacket, Crafted from Zero-Waste Denim

A Starry-Eyed Tribute to Viking Explorers

Have you ever gazed up at the night sky and wondered how ancient mariners navigated the vast oceans? Well, that's exactly what inspired our designer, Jenny, to create the stunning Constellation jacket.

Jenny's love for history, sustainability, and unique style led her to found Marree, a brand dedicated to creating beautiful, eco-conscious clothing. And the Constellation jacket is a perfect example of her passion and creativity.

Inspired by a visit to the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde, Denmark, Jenny was captivated by the Vikings' incredible seafaring skills. They relied on the stars and the moon to guide their way, and this celestial connection is beautifully reflected in the design of the Constellation jacket.

The jacket's deep indigo hue, achieved through organic plant dyeing and shibori techniques, evokes the vastness of the ocean. The patchwork of denim scraps, sourced from discarded jeans, not only minimizes waste via upcycling but also symbolizes the resourcefulness of the Vikings. And to add a touch of celestial magic, silver metallic sashiko stitching creates a constellation-like pattern that adorns the jacket.

This jacket was so evocative that it sold before it was completed! Our customer saw it, tried it on, and it fit her beautifully. She decided to get this jacket as a special birthday gift for herself. We completed the jacket and enclosed a statement of the inspiration.

Now she's creating her own adventures while wearing a piece of history, a symbol of adventure, and a commitment to sustainability.
