Continuing Marree’s design evolution designer Jenny Fong is excited to share her inspiration for this Fall and Winter collection. As promised, we're introducing more new fabrics and silhouettes this season. With an eye on fall trends, this season’s shaping up to be the coziest one yet. Let’s dive in.
Our Inspiration
Inspired by vintage navy pants. Every season starts with inspiration whether it’s a place, a garment or someone’s style. This fall’s inspiration started with this pair of vintage naval pants from the ‘60s that Jenny had in her archive.

She was smitten by the fun, bold wide leg. Other inspo is photo of Maria Culatto’s floral ice art. The artist is known for capturing a moment in time using plants and ice. Couldn’t you see a beautiful floral dress print inspired by this?
Looking to the left is a pic of a customer who approached Jenny at a show. Her name is Sabrina. They chatted about silk dresses and Sabrina sent Jenny a pic of a dress she loved. Fast forward to today, Sabrina is on the board next to Jenny’s dress sketch with a rack of dresses hanging below.

Bundle Up in Cozy Fabrics
For fall winter we are thinking about being warm and cozy. Because of this, we’re introducing silk in two ways. The first fabric is a very special Mulberry silk. This dyes up so vividly with natural dyes. It’s perfect for our Sabrina dress.
We also found a beautiful Japanese denim made with cotton and silk. Imagine indigo twill flecked with cream colored neps that feels incredibly soft and cozy on the skin.
Confessions of a fabric nerd: Jenny always starts a collection with the fabric. She shops at a wholesale fabric show two times a year, sourcing only the best fabrics for you. More often these days, fabric isn’t readily available for various reasons, so when she finds something she loves, she’ll make a buy or patiently wait for it to restock.
New Silhouette Sketches
You’ve met the Sabrina dress already. Now we’d like to introduce the Emily pant inspired by that vintage Naval piece. Emily will be your go-to cozy fall pant in that beautiful Japanese denim.
The Emily wide leg pant has a clean front, plus a side opening with big pockets in the front and back. Emily has darts in the back and belt loops for a perfect fit. Weight fluctuations? No problem. You can move the inside button up to 2” to the right or left. So go ahead and have that second piece of pie at Thanksgiving.
What to wear on top? Our Mia crop top is super cute over the Emily. Mia is a pullover v neck top with puffy ¾ raglan sleeves. She’s made in a lightweight Japanese cotton silk woven fabric. We love her in the undyed cream color.
Naturally-dyed color and materials
Speaking of color, the palette this season is inspired by these two beautiful mid-century buildings, one interior (UK) and one exterior (Brazil). We love the cozy fall vibe of red and rust, off set by sage green and cream florals. Grounded with the indigo Japanese denim and yellow cotton linen.

These pieces come alive with rich, naturally dyed hues of red, rust, sage green, and cream—each print telling a story through marigolds and yellow onion skins.
Made-to-order
We are doing a made-to-order model this season. Sabrina delivers in November. The Sunrise jacket, Emily pant and Mia top deliver in December. We can’t wait to see you walking around in your beautiful clothing.
